Everything alive used to happen inside a scene only: outside it an ability was just a line on a card. Now it is used right in the location — by players and NPCs alike.
A claim inside your post — pick an ability, name the target, write your move: the cost comes off your bars, a roll settles the outcome, and the trace lands right under the post. Harm to the living still needs a scene — that is where defence and the right to answer live.
Location objects — a supply cabinet, thickets by the river, a crate in the corner: they get searched, and more than once. Some know where things lie, others must notice them first.
NPCs by the same rules — they remember spent strength and wounds between scenes, use what they own and take what they need from the world instead of inventing it in prose.
The world has stopped being a backdrop between scenes — there is finally something to do in it.
