Finishing off a downed enemy used to work only if the AI remembered to do it itself. It didn't — and the opponent got back up unharmed. Now the outcome of a fight is settled by code.
Finishing blow — if the arbiter rules the intent lethal, the target dies. No more "maybe it'll trigger"
Dying — a third zone between alive and dead: the target sinks down, unable to flee or fight back
Intent — knocking someone out with a pommel and running them through are no longer the same thing
Remains 🩸 — the body stays right in the scene, in the party column below the living: search it without leaving the fight
Trauma — a critical failure while butchering leaves a real condition with stages and infection, not a label
A world where death costs nothing is a sandbox, not a world.
